Greenock Cricket Club Passes Halfway Mark in £60k Sustainability Crowdfunder

Greenock Cricket Club's crowdfunding campaign has raised almost £35,000 since launching on August 1, pushing the club more than halfway toward the £60,000 needed to unlock a project it's calling transformational — and with nearly four weeks still on the clock, the momentum shows no sign of slowing.

A Fast Start Building Steam

The appeal opened strong, pulling in almost £25,000 in its first seven days alone. Nearly £10,000 more has landed since. That's not a campaign coasting on early enthusiasm — it's one still gathering pace, and the club's fundraising window gives it plenty of room to close the gap.The stakes go beyond the total on the counter. Earlier this summer, Greenock became the only sports club in Scotland to secure funding through the British Gas Energy For Tomorrow programme — and this crowdfunder is the second stage of that win. Hit the £60,000 target, and British Gas matches every £1 raised with £2 of its own. Miss it, and that multiplier disappears. Every donation between now and the deadline is doing double duty.

More Than a Clubhouse Upgrade

What the money actually buys: a heating system upgrade, improved insulation, energy-efficient LED lighting, solar panels, and broader infrastructure modernisation across the site.
