Aldi Is Offering Grassroots Clubs Up to £3,000 — But the Deadline Is Closing Fast

Grassroots clubs across Great Britain have until just 31st August 2026 to secure additional funding through this year’s Aldi Sports Fund scheme. Aldi has brought its sports funding together under a single UK-wide Aldi Sports Fund, offering eligible clubs grants of up to £3,000 to help with equipment, kits, coaching, training programmes and facility hire.

The move builds on the supermarket's existing Scottish Sports Fund, which has supported hundreds of clubs over the past decade. It has now expanded and consolidated into one programme covering England, Wales and Scotland. Aldi frames the initiative as part of a wider commitment to backing sport at every level, from the local club to Britain's Olympic and Paralympic athletes — a link made explicit through its role as Official Supermarket Partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB. Select Gold grant recipients will also get the chance to meet a Team GB or ParalympicsGB athlete and hear directly about their journey in the sport.

Tim Ellerton and Jenny Seymour of Team GB and ParalympicsGB welcomed the expansion, saying it reflects an understanding of "the extraordinary impact sport can have" from grassroots level through to elite competition. Aldi's chief commercial officer Julie Ashfield was equally direct about who the fund is ultimately for: the volunteers who run local clubs and give people of all ages the chance to get active, try something new, and be part of a team.

She pointed to the Scottish fund's ten-year track record as the model behind bringing the wider UK programme together, making it easier for clubs to see what support is available wherever they're based.

Grant values and application windows vary by location, and the deadline for the current round is fast approaching: clubs need to act before August 31. To apply, eligible clubs should email sportsfund@aldi.co.uk with no more than 200 words explaining what makes their club worth backing, how the funding would be used, and the difference it would make to their community.
